Getting started with Evermail

Evermail is a cloud email archive: upload an old mailbox file once, and search every message and contact from any browser — no Outlook or desktop software required. Here's how to get from zero to your first search.

1

Create a free account

Go to app.evermail.ai/register and sign up with email or Google. No credit card is required for the Free plan.

2

Upload your first archive

From the dashboard, click Upload and drag in a file. Evermail auto-detects the format — PST, OST, MBOX, EML, MSG, or a Google Takeout ZIP all work without conversion.

The Free plan accepts files up to 1 GB. See Uploading Archives for size limits on paid plans.

3

Choose a security level

During upload you'll pick how your archive is handled: Full Service (default, best search experience), Confidential Processing, or Zero-Access (only you can decrypt it). You can change this later per mailbox.

Full details: Security & Privacy.

4

Wait for processing

Evermail parses the archive, extracts every message and attachment, encrypts it, and builds a search index. A typical archive under 1 GB finishes in a few minutes; larger archives take longer. You'll see live progress on the upload page — no need to keep the tab open, you can check back later.

5

Start searching

Once processing finishes, open Emails in the sidebar and search by keyword, sender, date, or attachment. See Searching for query syntax, filters, and keyboard shortcuts.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need Outlook or another mail client installed?
No. Evermail reads PST, OST, MBOX, EML, and MSG files directly and runs entirely in your browser — no desktop software is required to view or search your archive.
How long does processing take?
It depends on archive size. Small archives (under 1 GB) usually finish in a few minutes. Larger archives with many attachments take longer — you can leave the page and check back, processing continues in the background.
Can I upload more than one archive?
Yes, subject to your plan's archive count and storage limit. See Billing & Plans for the limits on each tier.
Is my data safe during upload?
Yes. All uploads are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Evermail is EU-hosted and GDPR-ready. If you choose Zero-Access, your archive is encrypted in your browser before it ever leaves your device. See Security & Privacy.
