Gmail Export Archive

Google Takeout Viewer

Search your entire Gmail history using your Google Takeout export. Upload the MBOX files and find any email in seconds — without staying in Google's ecosystem.

What is Google Takeout?

Google Takeout is Google's data export service that lets you download a copy of your Gmail data (and other Google services) as a ZIP archive. Gmail exports as one or more MBOX files — each containing thousands of emails. People use Google Takeout when leaving Gmail, backing up their email history, migrating to a business email provider, or simply keeping a local copy of their correspondence. The resulting MBOX files can be hundreds of gigabytes and require a specialised tool to search — that's where Evermail comes in.

Why Evermail

Key features for Takeout archives

🏷️
Gmail labels preserved

Your Gmail labels (Inbox, Sent, custom labels) are preserved after import, so you can filter and browse your archive the same way as in Gmail.

🔍
Semantic AI search

Go beyond keywords. Ask 'Find my lease agreement from 2020' or 'Show emails from my accountant about tax returns' and Evermail understands.

🧵
Thread view

Emails from the same conversation are grouped in threads — just like Gmail — making it easy to follow long discussions.

📎
Attachment search & download

Find emails by attachment name or type. Download PDFs, images, and documents directly from your archived messages.

🔓
Escape vendor lock-in

Your email history shouldn't be locked inside Google. Evermail gives you full, permanent access independent of any email provider.

🇪🇺
EU-hosted, GDPR compliant

Your Takeout data is processed and stored exclusively in EU data centres. Full GDPR compliance, zero US data transfer.

FAQ

Common questions about Takeout files

How do I create a Google Takeout export for Gmail? +
Go to takeout.google.com, sign in, deselect all, then select only 'Mail'. Choose your export format (MBOX is the default for email), set the file size limit and delivery method, then click 'Create export'. Google will email you a link to download the archive — this can take hours for large mailboxes.
My Takeout ZIP contains multiple MBOX files. Which one do I upload? +
Google Takeout creates MBOX files per label (e.g. All mail.mbox, Sent.mbox). We recommend uploading 'All mail.mbox' which contains your complete Gmail history. You can also upload multiple MBOX files to the same Evermail mailbox.
Can Evermail handle very large Takeout archives (50 GB+)? +
Yes. Evermail is built for large archives. Team plans support files up to 10 GB and Enterprise supports up to 100 GB per file. For very large exports, Google splits the archive into multiple files — upload each part separately to the same mailbox.
Does Evermail work with other Google Workspace exports? +
Yes. Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) admins can export user mailboxes via Vault or Takeout for Workspace. The resulting MBOX files work identically in Evermail.
Is my data safe with Evermail? +
Yes. Evermail is EU-hosted and GDPR compliant. Your emails are stored on Azure EU infrastructure and never leave the EU. You can choose from three security levels per mailbox, including client-side zero-access encryption.
How much does it cost? +
Evermail has a free plan (1 GB, 30-day retention) to get started at no cost. Paid plans start from €4.99/month for 5 GB with permanent retention. See full pricing →
